As the next game from Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures studio Supermassive Games, The Casting of Frank Stone would have had plenty of eyes on it no matter what, but the fact that it’s set in the Dead by Daylight universe makes it that much more of an intriguing prospect. Ahead of its release, new details on the game are beginning to emerge at a faster clip, and courtesy of a behind-the-scenes video uploaded by Game Informer, we have plenty more of that to dive into.

The video focuses on the town of Cedar Hills, a fictional town in Northwestern America that will serve as the game’s setting. Originally built around a steel mill that went bust, the town has since grown and changed in different ways, though the now-abandoned industrial complex still lies at its heart. The steel mill is, as you would imagine, also going to serve as the stage for many a scare in the game.

Supermassive says players will also be able to find plenty of references to the Dead by Daylight universe throughout the town. Meanwhile, in the video, members of the development team also speak about using Unreal Engine 5 for the game’s development, and how that helped them craft environments with greater detail. Check out the video below for more.

The Casting of Frank Stone is due out on September 3 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
