Arriving more than a decade on from its beloved predecessor and looking increasingly promising with its pre-launch showings, excitement surrounding Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has been high as we’ve approached its release, and now that the game is beginning to go live for the larger public, that excitement is being reflected in the impressive numbers of players it’s been attracting.

Space Marine 2 became available in early access yesterday, on Thursday, for those who bought the game’s Gold and Ultimate Editions, and on the same day, saw a peak of 134,302 concurrent players on Steam, as per SteamDB. At the time of writing, it is being played by over 110,000 players concurrently on the platform. With the weekend now approaching and the game’s full release yet to come, it’s likely that its peak will climb higher in the coming days.

In our review of the game, we awarded it a score of 9/10, saying, “Brutal action, mind-boggling scale, spectacular set-pieces, and a bevy of content come together in what is one of the best action games in recent memory. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is unmissable.” Read the full review through here.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will launch globally on September 9 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
