It’s been made abundantly clear by now that Star Wars Outlaws has failed to perform the way most had expected a major AAA open world Star Wars game would from a sales perspective. Ubisoft itself recently confirmed that the sci-fi title’s initial sales turned out to be “softer than expected”, and more details have now emerged on its commercial performance.

As per physical sales data provided by the GSD (via GamesIndustry), though Star Wars Outlaws was No. 2 in the charts for physical software sales in Europe for the month of August (behind Grand Theft Auto 5 in the top spot), its sales figures were ultimately disappointing. Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment’s sci-fi title did manage to enjoy higher first-week physical sales in Europe than 2020’s Star Wars Squadrons, but at the same time, those figures are less than half of what Star Wars Jedi: Survivor managed upon its release last year.

It was previously reported that Star Wars Outlaws had sold an estimated 800,000 units by the end of August.

Massive Entertainment released a patch for the open world title shortly after its release that enabled cross-saves and tweaked some of the game’s early insta-fail stealth missions’ difficulty. The game’s next patch will release on October 3, with another following in November.

Star Wars Outlaws – Wild Card, the first of two paid expansions planned for the title, is coming on November 21. On the same day, Outlaws will also release for Steam.

Star Wars Outlaws is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Read our review of the game through here.
