Ubisoft confirms Ghost Recon: Future Soldier for PC; game delayed till May

Posted By | On 10th, Jan. 2012

Well, the bad news first. Ghost Recon: Future Soldier has been delayed to May 25th. Although, if you own a PS3 or Xbox 360 you can participate in the beta which starts in April.

Now for the big news. The game will be available on the PC. Yes, the PC. Now you may be wondering why this is such a big deal? There is a reason for that. A few months ago Ubisoft made a big deal about piracy on the PC and said that they won’t release Future Soldier on the platform, but now, it looks like they may have changed their minds.

They said earlier that, “95% PC gamers would pirate it” and solidly denied that it is coming to the platform.

So what could have caused the change of heart? Backlash? Negative press? I guess it’s a combination of… everything.

This is the right way to go about it though; much less controversial.

This was the reason given for delay was the usual ‘polish’.

“Ubisoft prides itself on creating some of the most compelling and innovative experiences in digital entertainment,” said Adrian Lacey, IP development director at Ubisoft Studios – France. “Today we are feature complete in our MP, Single player and 4 player coop campaign modes,” he added.

“We have taken the decision to move the date in order to ensure that all these ingredients are pushed to the highest level and provide a truly unique shooter experience.

The Ghost Recon franchise is known for setting the standard of high definition gaming and we believe the extra couple of months will allow us to reach that goal.

“We would like to thank all Ghost Recon fans for their patience and look forward to unveiling some exciting new elements in the coming weeks.”
