Nintendo and Sony Pictures announced earlier this year that their live action movie based on The Legend of Zelda would be releasing in March 2027. Now, a new release date has been announced for the movie, and it looks like the wait for it is going to be a roughly a month and a half longer than previously expected.

Taking to Twitter, Nintendo shared a message from Shigeru Miyamoto, who is also serving as a producer on the Zelda movie, announcing that due to “production reasons” the release date of the movie has been delayed from March 26, 2027 to May 7, 2027.

“It will be some weeks later than the release timing we originally announced, and we will take the extra time to make the film as good as it can be,” Miyamoto wrote.

The Legend of Zelda movie is set to be directed by Wes Bell, best known for having directed Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and the Maze Runner trilogy. Reportedly, Nintendo and Sony Pictures have a trilogy of movies planned that are reportedly going to be filmed together in New Zealand. Read more on that through here.
