It looks like the return to Mournstead next year is now set in stone, as the studio behind the adventure has the funds to ensure it.

Lords of the Fallen 2

If you’re like us, you’ve been fans of Lords of the Fallen since its early days. You probably enjoyed the 2023 reboot and are equally excited about returning to Mournstead in the sequel when it launches in 2027 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Well, that’s now on track to release next year, as CI Games has secured the funding it needs – about €28.6 million – to see the project through to its completion. The end of its publisher agreement with Epic Games gave us some anxiety about whether we would get to dive into a new take on Mournstead. We’re eager to try out if only for the joy of wielding a katana against whatever the game throws at us.

Marek Tyminski, who presides over CI Games’ SE division, offered a statement to GamesBeat confirming the news while also announcing that the sales of Lords of the Fallen 2 are going to be used to erase the new debt the studio has taken on. The studio won’t issue any new shares, likely until August 2027, until the financing matures (and thus, Tyminski will remain the majority shareholder).

“We have secured full financing for the launch of Lords of the Fallen 2 without issuing new shares. That matters for our shareholders, who keep their full participation in the game’s potential success. The banks’ confidence confirms the quality of our project and its commercial potential.”

Well, we’re hoping the new game is worth all the fuss, which remains a strong possibility given how impressive the first one is.
