Beyond is a new project announced by Quantic Dream’s David Cage at Sony’s E3 press conference this year. Earlier Cage had revealed that he had hired famous “hollywood actors” for his new project which turned out to be Ellen Page – the brilliant child actor.
However, Ellie’s model in The Last of Us also resembled Ellen Page a lot, and recently Naughty Dog announced some changes to the model which led people to believe that it was due to Ellen Page’s involvement in Beyond.
Bruce Straley, the game director of TLUS has revealed that these speculations are not true and the model was changed to match with Ellie’s voice actor, Ashley Johnson.
“We didn’t even know what was going on with that. We don’t know what’s going on with other games,” he said to Eurogamer.
“We hear what people are saying – we didn’t realise that ourselves, because we just try to push for the characters that we want. And when we see the reactions we’re like, OK, we don’t like that. We want our characters to stand on their own two feet.”
“We went a little bit younger, and we think that we got a little bit more Ashley inside of there, which we like. And we really want to respect Ashley for the great performance that she’s giving us,” he added.
