Diablo 3 digital copies buyers will be stuck with starter edition for 72 hours

With the latest 1.03 patch, Blizzard has introduced something they call the review period, where buyers of the full copy will be stuck on the starter edition (demo) for up to 72 hours. And yes, you guessed it right, it’s for security purposes and to prevent people from abusing RMAH.

It’s actually pretty funny when you realize almost all problems with Diablo 3 are because of security related reasons. It’s sort of an anti-consumer move where paying full price for a game doesn’t even allow you to access the content from the day you purchased it.

They can call it security measures or whatever the hell they want, but making consumers suffer is never the right way to go about it.

The starter edition in Diablo 3 allows you to play till the Skeleton King, and most people know that reaching that stage won’t even take that long, and then you have to wait till the review period is over and then you get access to the content you paid for. You also cannot play past level 13.

Of course, Blizzard responded to this and here’s what they said: “Outside of the issue that we fixed, digital purchases do require a review period before they kick over from Starter to Full editions.

“We apologize for the inconvenience, but it is a necessary step to combat fraud and other malicious activities that can weaken everyone’s play experience.”

People are not pleased with this move from Blizzard and you can read a bunch of vitriol over here. Tell us what you think in the comments section below.
