Borderlands 2 DLC Now In Production

Posted By | On 29th, Jul. 2012

It’s something many people hate; DLC before a game gets released. Borderlands 2 is the latest game where the DLC is already being developed before the game is even out and the great thing is? Gearbox, the developers of the game, say gamers don’t understand DLC.

Brian Martel, CCO of Gearbox Software, revealed that Borderlands 2 will get a lot of DLC content, and early DLC production is mainly to keep the developers are busy.

“We’re working on DLC now, and I think that’s one of the things people don’t really understand about how games are made – it’s months after a game is finished before it finds its way onto the shelf,” he told Incgamers. “If we were like Hollywood we’d hire a bunch of contractors and fire them as soon as the project is over, but we’re a much more respectful organisation than that.

“After the game is done we need to keep our guys as busy as possible, and a lot of that is DLC. Our DLC items tend to be things we had on the wishlist for the full game but we couldn’t include for whatever reason. So now is about the time we start to push those things into pre-production to prevent people not working.”
