We’re already so eager to dive into Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, and there’s now a live-action, four-episode prequel series that’s going to introduce the pilot whose call sign is Wings of Theve, played by Josh Holloway. Despite his mythical status, he’s in a tricky spot with seemingly nowhere to land. He looks determined to find a creative solution, which is exactly what we’ll be doing when we take over the controls from him next month.
Brandon Routh, whom you might know as the Arrowverse’s Doctor Atom, or even a short stint as Superman, or as a nasty character on The Rookie, also stars in the prequel. He’s joined by Tamlyn Tomita, whose portfolio includes The Good Doctor and Star Trek: Picard, in a story taking place in the early days of the Sotoan invasion of Usea. Things are tense all around; all three characters’ stories look they’ll be quite challenging over the four-episode run.
It’s streaming exclusively on IGN beginning September 15th and is a good way to get familiar with the Ace Combat universe if Wings of Theve is going to be your first. The latter is out on October 2nd for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
