Eremite Games’ Against the Storm exited early access back in December, launching for PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store. The positive feedback has helped because it recently sold over one million units on Steam alone.

The development team thanked players, stating, “Since we set sail on this adventure, the outpour of love, feedback, and the occasional plea for mercy from the Blightstorm has been overwhelming. It’s as if every copy sold has laid another stone in the foundations of our Smoldering City, making it stronger, grander, and more alive.

“To everyone who’s ever completed orders for the Scorched Queen, puzzled over which crop to plant next, or cursed when the rain turned against them, we owe you our gratitude. Your stories have turned Against the Storm from a game into a saga. Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey.”

Against the Storm is a survival city-builder, but unlike its contemporaries, there’s a rogue-lite format. Players must decide where to assign workers, which areas to uncover next and objectives to prioritize for the Scorched Queen. Meanwhile, the Storm rages and can throw a wrench into everything.

While it’s already seen massive success, Eremite Games is only getting started. It launched Update 1.2 last month, adding the Trends panel, Automaton unit, unique art and sound FX for World Events and more. Update 1.3 is in the works (with more details to be revealed soon), followed by paid DLC, which adds a new playable species, buildings, events, Orders, perks and biome. As always, stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
