Agent Could Be Rockstar’s Big Game For This Year, The Last Guardian Will Sell Well In Japan: Pachter

Michael Pachter comments on two of the biggest franchises that are yet to see a release.

It’s no secret that there is a lot of mystery surrounding Team Ico’s The Last Guardian and Rockstar’s Agent. A few years ago there were rumors that both of them were cancelled but according to recent reports, both of them are actually alive in some form or the other.

However, according to Managing Director of Equity Research at Wedbush Securities, Michael Pachter, if The Last Guardian does come out on the PS3/PS4, it will sell really well in Japan and in the West as well.

“You know, again, that game will sell well in Japan, and will probably sell well in the west too, to an audience that cares for that kind of thing, and that’s a PS3/4 exclusive, that’s obviously not coming out on the Xbox… I just think Japanese content is less important in the west to sell consoles, I think shooters are more important here in that regard,” Pachter said to GamingBolt.

And what about Agent? In July 2013, Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, renewed its trademarks of the “Agent” brand, so it exists in some form of the other. Pachter actually spoke to Rockstar on two occasions, once in 2010 and more recently in 2013. And on both occasions, Rockstar did not explicitly stated that the game is cancelled.

“Yeah, you know, it’s very funny, I asked Take Two back in 2010 if they were still working on it, and they said yes, it’s still under development, and then I asked them in 2013, and they said, we have no further announcements to make about Agent. So I have a feeling it’s been dropped, but knowing Rockstar, you know, it could be their big game for this year,” he revealed.
