It took six years for Mario to ride Yoshi

Yoshi was a fantastic addition to the Mario Franchise, and as such became a classic fan favorite among gamers. Ever since its 1985 release, Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto always had a dream of Mario riding Yoshi in the levels. However due to technological restraints, they could not integrate Yoshi into the game for another six years. The technology to have a player is able to trigger and hop onto a totally different control scheme just wasn’t available.
