‘Amazon Prime Air’: A New Drone Delivery Service Announced By Amazon

The drones are coming.

Posted By | On 03rd, Dec. 2013

Amazon has announced its intention to change the stakes of the online retail gaming market by incorporating a brand new service: Unmanned delivery drones. You heard right.

The service which is termed as ‘Amazon Prime Air’, these drones would strap packages to them and quite literally fly to your door to deliver. We’re talking next level, futuristic sci-fi action here. The drones would initially be incorporated into densely populated, urban environments, where Amazon estimates that some packages will be received as soon as 30 minutes after the order has been placed.

The drone service has a planned implementation of 2015, with the only setback being the lack of FAA regulations on aerial vehicles. Get with the times, FAA. The future is here.

“We hope the FAA’s rules will be in place as early as sometime in 2015. We will be ready at that time,” Amazon revealed.

I can’t wait for 2015. I’ll be older, and hopefully wiser. I’ll be able to tell all the young bloods that “I remember when you used to have to wait 4 days to get a package from Amazon! And it was delivered by a real live person!” I’m sure whoever I’m talking to will pretend to pay attention out of politeness.
