It’s official: Angry Birds Star Wars will be released for the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. Developers Rovio Entertainment in conjunction with Lucasfilm made a joint announcement confirming the rumors earlier today.

This announcement came in conjunction with the game’s launch on current gen consoles, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PS Vita, Wii, Wii U, and Nintendo 3DS. Angry Birds Star Wars will be available on the Xbox One and the PS4 at the time of launch for both consoles.

In order to justify the game’s much higher price point than on mobile platforms, Rovio has included an additional 20 levels on top of the 200 that appear in the game’s mobile versions. Additionally, there will be multiplayer and co-op modes, with high scores and trophies so that you can show off your best Angry Birds stats.James Lee, executive vice president of Rovio had this to say:

“As a company we want to be where-ever the fans are, so we are thrilled to be partnering with Activision to bring this one-of-a-kind experience to console and handheld gaming fans.”
