Ubisoft’s remastered version of the polarizing Assassin’s Creed 3 is available now, but it might be coming up just a little short of what was promised. As detailed by VG Tech in a new video, which you can view below, it seems the remaster does not actually output in native 4K as advertised.
According to their analysis, the game only runs at 1500p on the PS4 Pro. It fairs better on the Xbox One X with 1800p, but still short of the goal of true 4K. The second game included in the package, Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation, a former Vita spin-off that takes place aside the main game’s story, however, does manage to run at native 4K on both systems. All versions of the game run at 30 FPS, with the base PS4 and Xbox One versions running at 1080p and 900p respectively.
Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered is now available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. A Switch version is slated for May 21st. If you bought the season pass of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, the remaster is included free of charge.
