Assassin’s Creed Origins is “Major Step” in Franchise’s Evolution

Creative director Jean Guesdon talks about offering players more control over their experiences.

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Origins is out later this month and though it’s coming off of a break for the franchise, there is some excitement over how the experience will shape up this time. What’s meant to be the most appealing part of Origins though and how will it draw the series’ faithful back?

Creative director Jean Guesdon spoke to PlayStation Blog about the same and revealed that the development team wants players to have that “strong mysterious narrative” that defined much of the appeal of Assassin’s Creed.

“With Assassin’s Creed Origins, we really wanted to come back for the 10th anniversary of the series with something that would be a true milestone for the franchise. And what better story to tell in Ancient Egypt, cradle of modern civilization, than the one clarifying the origins of the Brotherhood as we’ve known it since Assassin’s Creed?”

There’s more than just the narrative that team at Ubisoft is concerned with. Keeping the historical setting in mind, creating an immersive world and making the combat fun are also important.

However, it wants Assassin’s Creed Origins to be “a major step in the evolution of the franchise, in terms of gameplay experience.” Guesdon added that with all the new features introduced, the developer worked hardest to add “new stuff that would push [them] to give more control to players over their personal experience.”

Assassin’s Creed Origins is out on October 27th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
