There are 6 allies that can potentially accompany you on your quests in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. These allies must be recruited through the completion of certain specific quests that can be found in the Hideout.

The League quest board
At the end of the “From Spark to Flame” quest, the Hideout is finally made accessible, along with The League quest board where allies are unlocked. Each individual ally can be recruited by undertaking a series of quests.
Yaya
- On the “Heads Will Roll” quest, decline to assassinate the target named ‘The Wounded’.
- Embark on “The Stray Dogs” quest.
- Choose forgiveness in the dialogue options.
Ibuki
- On the “Ambush Interrupted” quest, continue as Yasuke.
- Embark on the “Homecoming” quest.
- Choose to side with Ibuki in the dialogue options.
Oni-yuri
- Complete the “Sweet Lies” quest.
- Embark on the “Sweet Revenge” quest.
- Choose to trust Oni-yuri in the dialogue options.
Gennojo
- Play as Naoe.
- Spare Gennojo in the “Missing Missive” quest.
- Encounter Gennojo in the “Lost Honor” quest.
- Encounter Gennojo in the “Honor Among Thieves” quest.
- Encounter Gennojo in the “Stolen Hearts” quest.
- Choose to reassure Gennojo in the dialogue options.
- Prevent Gennojo from using explosives.
Katsuhime
- Complete the “Showdown in Sakamoto” quest.
- Complete the “Requiem for Rokkaku” quest.
- Complete the “Letter from Katsuhime” quest.
- Embark on the “The Diary of Lady Rokkaku” quest.
- Encounter Katsuhime in Omi.
- Complete the rescue and invite Katsuhime.
Yagoro
- Eliminate every last member of the Shinbafuku.
- Embark on and complete “A Blade in the Dark” quest.
Although only a single ally can initially come along for the ride, constructing a Dojo and upgrading it to level 2, will allow an additional ally to join you. The Dojo can also upgrade allies up to two ranks from the starting Novice rank, then Initiate, and finally Veteran. Each new rank unlocks an additional ability for the ally to use in combat.
