Asus has indicated that it has plans for a successor to its ROG Ally handheld gaming PC. Speaking to Techlusive, Asus India VP of consumer and gaming PCs Arnold Su said that the company is planning a second-generation release of the ROG Ally later this year.

“We most likely will launch a second-generation [handheld gaming console] this year. We will still keep the Windows features, but we will focus more on gaming,” said Su.

Su also goes on to talk about the success of the ROG Ally in the Indian market, revealing that between 70,000 and 80,000 units of the handheld gaming PC were sold in the country. According to Su, the Indian market featured more early adopters for the ROG Ally than countries with more developed gaming PC markets.

The Asus ROG Ally was launched back in 2023 with a price tag of $699. Compared to other handheld gaming PCs like the Steam Deck, the ROG Ally features more powerful specs while also running on Windows 11, which also allows it to support services like Game Pass, as well as different launchers and anti-cheat systems.
