Deck13 has delivered two solid Soulslike experiences back-to-back with The Surge and The Surge 2, but with the upcoming Atlas Fallenthe German developer is pivoting to something that’s very different from its past outings. Set in a fantasy world and promising a greater emphasis on fast and flashy combat, the action RPG has looking promising in all that’s been shown of it so far, and that continues to be the case in its latest showing.

Publisher Focus Entertainment has released a new gameplay presentation video for Atlas Fallen, in which members of its development team talk about various aspects of the experience, from its fantasy setting where corrupt gods rule over the land to how the sands that flood the world will form a crucial part of both the story and gameplay.

Traversal will be a key element of the game, and players will have access to several movement abilities, like Sand Gliding, which allows you to surf over sand, like its name implies. In combat, players will take on a variety of foes and switch between various weapons, while the Momentum meter will also come into play, allowing you to unleash a special attack when it’s filled up.

The video also offers more details on the game customization and progression mechanics, how it emphasizes exploration in its wide open environments, how the game approaches difficulty, and more. Check out the video below for more details.

Atlas Fallen launches on August 25 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It will run at 4K/30 FPS or 1440p/60 FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series X, and at 1080p/60 FPS on Xbox Series S. You can check out its PC requirements through here. For more details on the game, read our interview with Deck13 managing director and Atlas Fallen creative director Jan Klose.
