Batman Arkham Knight: Is The Joker Still Alive?

If you have not played other games in the series, DON'T READ THIS.

This is your last chance to back out, as beyond this point, spoilers for previous Batman: Arkham games, as well as potential spoilers for the upcoming Arkham Knight may follow. But I am sure all fans of Rocksteady’s Batman games remain the shocking, striking ending of Batman: Arkham City- the death of Batman’s longtime arch-nemesis Joker, finally concluding one of the most notorious rivalries in comic book history.

That said, what if he is not dead? What if he is going to play into Arkham Knight as well? It would be a little groan inducing, to be sure, to have Joker be behind it all again (this would only be the fourth time the series would use the same plot device), but it’s not like a Batman story without The Joker would have the same impact.

Anyway, a lot of fans have taken to scouring the latest trailer for the game (embedded above) for clues. Rocksteady is known to pack its media for games with hidden secrets, easter eggs, and clues, leading fans to Dan Brown-esque hunts for information. It appears that, 42 seconds in, you get the following image in the trailer:

JohnnyCharisma Batman Arkham Knight

The text there, in case it is not clear, reads Jonny Charisma Live! Fans are convinced that this is supposed to be a really complex and convoluted way of Rocksteady saying Jocha is alive, or Joker is alive.

Although if that is indeed true one has to wonder why Rocksteady would telegraph the biggest twist of the game to a fanbase that they know is obsessed like that. We’ll know for sure when the game is out.
