In our previous Batman Arkham Knight updates, we told you about the new Batmobile and tackled the case of the Arkham Knight, but today we’re going to talk about Batmans best friends, his Gadgets. A powerful combatant though the Batman may be, up until now his ability to fight from the air has been somewhat limited in general, often being restricted to dive bomb style attacks.

This has been changed according to Gaz Deaves, Social Marketing Manager for Rocksteady Studios. Obviously not wanting to say too much about the new tools that are being included in the ever growing Bat-arsenal, Gaz goes on to talk about a new means of transport that’s being added to the game to compliment the blatant increase in stage verticality.

“One of the best things about working with Batman is thinking of new ways to use gadgets to solve problems. We haven’t talked about the new gadgets that we’re adding to Batman’s utility belt yet, but on top of all the new tools you’ll have access to, one of the things we wanted to do this time is expand on how some of our classic Arkham gadgets can be deployed,” Gaz said to GamingBolt.

“So you can now use gadgets while you’re airborne – for example, throwing batarangs into a group of thugs to thin them out before you engage on foot. Some gadgets have been upgraded in response to the bigger design decisions we made in the game. For example, the skyscrapers in Gotham city are extremely tall, so to make navigation feel more natural, we’ve added a new chain grapnel that allows you to quickly ascend them by grappling multiple times in quick succession.”

Climbing tall structures has never been the simplest, nor the speediest of endeavours for the Bar, but with his new “chain Grapnel” that allows him to grapple “multiple times in quick succession”, this looks set to change very soon.
