Warner Montreal, the studio that brought us 2013’s entry to the Batman: Arkham canon with Batman: Arkham Origins, is currently hiring developers as it gears up to develop a brand new open world game based on an original IP, online job listings indicate.

The studio’s job page features listings for numerous roles that hint at this new game and its nature- a game designer, who will be “responsible for designing and driving development of specific features or systems for an open-world action game;” a technical director spec, who will be “working on a new IP project for next generation platforms;” and also, several references to Unreal Engine 4.

All this indicates that Warner Montreal’s next game is not a continuation of the Batman: Arkham series, which saw series custodian Rocksteady sign off with the just released Batman: Arkham Knight, but something new entirely. As to what that could be, it remains to be seen. Given that Batman: Arkham Origins was largely a good game, if a little too safe, I can’t wait to see what the studio has planned next.
