Many gamers were bummed when Gearbox Software unveiled Battleborn, it’s upcoming online co-op shooter for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC, most especially because it wasn’t a new Borderlands. The game uses massive online battle arena or MOBA mechanics and today, new details revealed how these would play out.
In Battleborn, you can either play co-operatively with friends in a campaign mode or compete with other teams in Incursion mode to capture points, murder opposing forces and more. There are several different character types to choose from, ranging from heavy assault characters to melee focussed fighters. Battleborn takes much of its dark humour from Borderlands but there is a tinge of Team Fortress 2, among other games, mixed in. Each time you start a match, you’ll be at level 1 but as you progress, you can unlock different skill tiers with each level. You’ll choose from two skills and even be able to throw in a third one if your profile is at a high enough level, thus creating a character with several differing abilities each round.
Battleborn will be out in 2015 for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC with a beta arriving in the coming months. What are your thoughts on the game? Let us know below.
