Battlefield 1 Dev: Bad Company 3 Is Always In The Back of Our Heads

But it doesn't sound like it will be happening any time soon.

Battlefield 1

Battlefield 1 looks to be a glorious return to form for the franchise that some would argue had begun to lose its way with its recent entries and installments. However, even though the game seems to be channeling classic Battlefield with its history inspired setting, there are those who continue to thirst for what they would contend was the true peak of Battlefield– Bad Company, and a new game in that sub-franchise.

Speaking to Resero, DICE’s Lars Gustavsson admitted that Bad Company 3 remains something that DICE continue to think about, even though he would not share any response more committal than that.

“Yeah, the question of Bad Company, and will the boys return- it’s always in the back of our heads, and I think just like Battlefield 1 is a work of passion and the way that I think that we are extremely proud of all the Battlefield games we have done,” Gustavsson said. “Battlefield 4 is a dream for me as a game maker and how we handled modern warfare.

“But going back to Battlefield 1 and the Great War, it has been a work of passion in how we can capture it in a different way. But in the back of our heads, just the same, the question of Bad Company 3 and will we do it… who knows? Maybe in the future, it’s something we miss. So maybe someday.”

So, there we have it- DICE continue to think about Bad Company 3, but it doesn’t sound like they are going to do anything with it any time soon. Which is a shame, if you ask me- but also, understandable. At this point, I have enough respect for DICE as artists that I will neither question them, nor presume to tell them they should be working on something other than what they would want to work on.
