Battlefield 1 Weather System Bug Upsets Balance – Report

Discovering these bugs is exactly what beta tests are for, though, so I suppose it's a good thing that it's been discovered.

Battlefield 1

While the Battlefield 1 beta has, in general, been received extremely well, it appears as though there is a bug that upsets game balance quite a bit. Redditor Agastopia posted a thread on Reddit, pointing that the onset of weather does not appear to be consistent in the game, posting a GIF that demonstrated different weather conditions in the same game for two different players.

He speculated that Battlefield 1‘s weather system may be client side, instead of server side, leading to major balance issues- however, as of right now, it seems as though people have agreed that this is more of a bug in the beta code, rather than the weather system actually being based client side.

If that is so, then while this is a major bug that completely wrecks game balance in competitive play, it is also the kind of thing that is to be expected in the beta code for a game. That said, it is also something that I sincerely hope is resolved properly before the game ships- right now, judging by the Reddit thread, it does seem to completely undermine game balance.

Battlefield 1 is due out on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on October 21.
