Battlefield 3 launch is closing in and we have got some new details for you from Johan Andersson, Rendering Architect and Alan Kertz, Core Gameplay Designer on Battlefield 3.
First off Alan Kertz reveals more information on how weapons and bullets are going to behave in the game. According to him, it’s going to be a pretty authentic experience.
Bullets will lose energy over long distances. This may be interesting in case of Snipers. He states, “It’s authentic, bullets lose energy over range. All bullets in BF3 do this.”
He then talks about the weapon’s recoil and how different weapons will have different recoil rates. “34 is only for the 7.62mm weapons, generally have higher recoil, deviation, and slower rates of fire.”
Next up, Johan Andersson shares more information on the high resolution texture pack for consoles. There has been a concern among some gamers that the high resolution pack may slow down the frame rates, but Andersson reassures us that this will not be the case, “no the Game is designed to use the pack.”
He then talks on how it will actually work on consoles: “we have a huge set of texture resolutions and formats so would waste a lot with many fixed pools”
