Battlefield 2042 – Season 1: Zero Hour goes live tomorrow with new map Exposure; a new Specialist, Ewelina Lis; two new stealth gunships; and two new weapons. Xbox Wire and IGN noted in their previews that future maps would be designed for 64 players only. Modes like Conquest on the launch maps would still be playable with 128 players though.

It would sense considering that DICE dropped support for 128 players in Breakthrough, keeping it limited to 64 players. However, community manager Kevin Johnson took to Twitter to clarify, “We have no intention to drop 128P support for future map offerings. Players have told us this is great for some modes, but not everything. Our focus is on building for fun, freedom, and creativity with 128P being present on future maps in Battlefield Portal too!”

Though the conflicting information is odd, some mixed communication may have occurred at DICE. Regardless, the official stance right now seems to be that 128-player support is here to stay. We’ll have to wait and see how this bodes for future maps.

Battlefield 2042 is currently available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC. For details on the recently released update 1.0.0, head here.
