Beyond: Two Souls to have a new engine, decision “totally absurd” – Cage

Yeah it really is confusing why they did this.

David Cage is crazy and that’s why the studio Quantic Dream have made an entirely new engine for Beyond: Two Souls, which they revealed in an interview with Shacknews.

They know it wasn’t right or a sensible business decision to go with such an engine but that’s what makes them crazy. The last engine they used for the game was pretty good so I don’t understand their logic behind this.

Here’s what they had to say:

“Does it make sense from a company point of view? Not really, to be honest. Being the CEO of the company, I can tell you that it’s totally absurd. But we enjoy it so much. We’re a team of passionate people. This is ‘what we should have done,’ but we’ve done something else,” he said.

“We’re just crazy people. We don’t do this for money or fame. We want to take risks because we enjoy trying to push the envelope,” he added.

Heavy Rain sold pretty well and the last figures were 1.5 million so it looks like there’s enough audience for Cage’s work.
