YAKUZA: LIKE A DRAGON
Yakuza: Like a Dragon was an important step forward for the series. Though technically a continuation, with its new characters, new setting, and new gameplay, it was essentially a reboot- or a soft reboot, at the very least. And though series mainstay Kamurocho is still very much present and accounted for here, the new location of Yokohoma is the real star of the show here. Yakuza, of course, has a history of prioritizing quality over quantity, and that’s true here as well. Though Yokohoma is easily the largest city we’ve ever explored in a Yakuza game, it’s not terribly large, and is instead packed densely with interesting activities that completely ground you in its ridiculous and gleefully over-the-top world. On top of that, with Yokohoma, Kamurocho, and Sotenbori put together, the game isn’t lacking in terms of sheer size either.
