BioWare Mythic will ‘never’ use RealID

Warhammer Online developer BioWare Mythic has stated that it will ‘never’ force it’s gamers to use their real names on online forums.

Last week, Blizzard performed an abrupt U-turn on their previous decision to make all players use their real names when posting in forums.

The move supposedly came about after Blizzard became tired of incessant trolling.

According to Blizzard, RealID “was a deliberate and open design decision, driven 100 per cent by the desire to create an even better online experience for our players by giving them powerful tools to compete with and stay connected to their real-life friends and family.”

“No. Never. Never. No,” was Warhammer Online producer Carrie Gouskos reply when asked whether WO would ever make use of RealID.

“I would fight that tooth and nail. I’ve had some very personal, really bad experiences in online communities with that. Personally, I’m against it,” she said.

Well that’s that put to bed then.

Starcraft II releases tomorrow.
