Blasphemous 2 Announced for Summer 2023 Release on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch

A sequel to side-scrolling metroidvania game Blasphemous has been unveiled along with a new trailer and a Summer 2023 release window.

Publisher Team17 and developer The Game Kitchen have announced a sequel to side-scrolling metroidvania Blasphemous. Appropriately titled Blasphemous 2, the game was announced alongside a trailer, which you can check out below.

Blasphemous 2 features the return of the protagonist from the original Blasphemous—The Penitent One. The sequel’s story is set to continue from where things left off at the end of the Wounds of Eventide DLC for the original game.

The Penitent One will find himself in a stange new land as he is once again trapped in an endless cycle of life, death, and resurrection. The Penitent One will have to explore the strange new world and fight off its denizens to try and return to his final resting place.

Blasphemous 2 will feature a host of new enemies, as well as intricate new bsoses to fight. The game will also feature a new skill set that can be further customised, along with new unique weapons to wield.

Blasphemous 2 doesn’t yet have a solid release date aside from a Summer 2023 release window. It is slated to come out on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
