“If you’ve ever played a first person shooter game then you’ll feel right at home,” says senior producer Anthony Nicholson.
Bordelands 3 recently wrapped up development, and is mere weeks way from its long-anticipated launch. With seven years having passes since Borderlands 2 came out, series fans will be itching to get back into the action again- but given how much hype surrounds the game, it stands to reason that a lot of newcomers will be jumping into the series for the first time with the upcoming sequel as well.
But if you’re not someone who has much – if any – experience with Borderlands, should you be worried about accessibility? Not according to Anthony Nicholson, senior producer on the game at Gearbox Software. Speaking with us in a group interview, when asked about how Borderlands 3 is going to approach accessibility options, Nicholson said that it’s a game that both, series fans and those who’ll be taking a dive into the Borderlands universe for the first time will find extremely accessible.
“We have several different options and several different modes that the guys on the game field team— we actually have our own department within the department that works on accessibility, because it’s really important to us,” said Nicholson while speaking with GamingBolt. “But as far as newcomers coming into the series, it’s a first person shooter. If you’ve ever played a first person shooter game then you’ll feel right at home. The recruitment walk-through that we did with Claptrap in the beginning of the game, we want to make sure that is stepping people through and showing them how to play the game. We want to make sure that even if you’ve been here since 2009 or you’re playing for the first time in 2019, that you can pick the game up and understand that we’re giving it everything that you need to be successful and really enjoy the experience.”
Borderlands 3 is out on September 13 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. On PS4 Pro, the game will support both 4K and 60 FPS – but both separately in two different options. You can watch the first 14 minutes of the game through here.
