Cairn: On the Trail – Deep Water DLC Out Now, Adds Free Roam and Playable Marco

It’s time to climb to your heart’s content, or at least until you’ve frayed your nerves enough to call it a day. Or a little bit of both.

Cairn

Cairn adds a new Free Roam mode and is making Marco playable in a new update that also marks the launch of its first free DLC expansion called Deep Water. A new trailer has also been dropped to show you what you’re in for, showcasing a lot of tense climbing and that familiar sense of foreboding in the midst of the oppressive silence of the mountain. Check it out below.

Your path through this new expansion seems as precarious as you might expect if you’ve played the base game on either PC or PS5, the latter version making its debut earlier this year. We were quite happy to return to it back then, and we’re as happy to get more of it now.

Of course, the DLC is going to make it a bit of a dilemma between the new region and the Free Roam mode, which we would certainly like to spend some time with to go over other routes we could have taken on those climbs where we had to step away for a while just to calm ourselves before finally tackling our challenges with the same grit that Aava is now famous for.
