Fresh out of Gamescom 2013, Activision has revealed new details for the upcoming Call of Duty: Ghosts, including revamped load-outs and the new Create-A-Soldier system.
Players will be able to customize their soldier with reportedly 20,000 different options in appearance, and the ability to allocate points for one’s primary weapon, secondary weapon, lethal and tactical equipment and Perks. As you level up, new equipment becomes available with attachments and Killstreaks being free.
The Perks are divided into seven categories, with 35 in total. Each Perk have a range of one to five, and you can allocate eight points overall (11 points if you forgo a secondary weapon).
Perks have been divided into the following categories:
Speed – Example: Sleight of Hand and Agility
Handling – Example: On The Go (reload while sprinting) and Strong Arm (throw equipment further and reduce grenade cook time).
Stealth – Example: Takedown (kill enemies without revealing their death location) and Off the Grid (move through environment undetected).
Awareness – Example: Detect enemy equipment and improve situational awareness.
Resistance – Example: Better damage resistance and health regeneration.
Equipment – Example: Hold more ammunition, attachments, etc.
Elite – Example: Ping (reveals nearby hostiles upon killing an enemy) and Deadeye (increased bullet damage as you rack up the kills).
Strike Packages have also been divided into three categories, namely Assault, Support and Specialist.
Assault Strike Package – Kill a number of enemies in a row and unlock packages such as Sat Com, which reveals enemy movements; Guard Dog, which brings a combat dog in for support; and Maniac, for juggernaut armour that gives a high-speed melee attack. The number of kills needed for each is rest if you die.
Support Strike Package – Doesn’t reset upon death and include Night Owl, for detecting enemies and explosive protection; MAAWS, a laser guided shoulder mounted rocket launcher; and the Helo Scout for sniper support from a helicopter.
Specialist Strike Package – More kills rewards more Perks.
There will also be more than 30 new weapons, along with a new Marksman Rifle class which allow for greater versatility compared to other traditional Sniper Rifles and feature more stopping power than Assault Rifles.
The multiplayer modes this time have also been revealed. They include:
Search and Rescue – Like Search & Destroy but instead of one life per round, you team can revive you.
Cranked – Team Deathmatch Mode, one kill earns you new abilities, but you must continue scoring kills to avoid a countdown clock that will kill you when it hits zero.
Blitz – Breach the opposing team’s goal and defend your own at the same time. Like CTF, but more offensive based.
Squads – Take your created characters and play solo or with up to six other players cooperatively or competitively. Such modes include: Squad vs. Squad, a 2 vs. 2 mode; Squad Assault, where you play against a squad, even when they’re offline in six player co-op; Wargame, where you and your squad will have your soldiers swapped out at any time with a friend; and Safeguard, a Horde mode wherein four players cooperatively fend off waves of enemies.
Call of Duty: Ghosts will launch worldwide on November 5th.
