Activision have released a new video that talks about next gen graphics for its upcoming Call of Duty Ghosts.

Displacement Mapping allows the developers to generate high resolution geometry which in previous games were flat. The video above shows some of the new engine features that allows the developers to play with this parameter. The developers believe this is a significant improvement in geometry and allows them to manipulate things in real time.

Yesterday we had reported on SubD. The video takes a deeper look in to this technology. With SubD, the blocky geometry looks better with smooth curves. SubD is already being utilized in Hollywood for sometime now. This feature helps to increase the polygon count exponentially and will continue to divide polygons as the player gets more and more closer to the object without making it blurred.

The video further explains the improvements they have made in to the lighting effects including HDR and volumetric lighting.

Call of Duty Ghosts is due this year for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
