Crysis on consoles a downloadable release only

Posted By | On 09th, Sep. 2011

Following the announcement of a release for the original Crysis on the Xbox 360 and PS3 earlier today with a trailer to go along with it, EA has now announced that the release will be download only, and no retail copies will be sold.

The game will only be available on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, for the price of 1600 MSP and £14.99 respectively, with full 3D support, and enhancements such as better lighting, new Nanosuit controls, inclusion of CryEngine 3 and more featured for the port.

“We are extremely proud of what we were able to accomplish with Crysis. We set out to create a next-generation FPS and delivered a PC experience that became a benchmark for quality – and still is for many gamers even four years later,” said Crytek boss Cevat Yerli.

“By bringing the single-player campaign to console, we believe we are again setting a new standard for quality in downloadable gaming.”

Crysis releases on the Xbox 360 and PS3 next month. Check out the press release here.
