Cuphead The Delicious Last Course

In an interview with WCCFTech, Studio MDHR’s studio director Maja Moldenhauer spoke about Cuphead‘s upcoming expansion—The Delicious Last Course—as well as the studio’s plans after the expansion has been released.

Talking about some of the new gameplay in The Delicious Last Course, Moldenhauer spoke about the DLC’s new island.

“It’s our biggest island yet,” said Moldenhauer. “There are five supersize bosses, but there are also quite a few secrets to discover and challenges that we don’t want to spoil too much for everybody.”

Moldenhauer also spoke about the time required to play through the new content will largely depend on individual players’ skill levels. A seasoned Cuphead player will likely finish the expansion in three-to-four hours.

The Delicious Last Course will also not feature any traditional platforming levels. According to Moldenhauer, the studio wanted to experiment how players accumulate coins and money in the game. Players will, however, be able to play through the base game’s levels as the new character—Miss Chalice.

Speaking about the future, Moldenhauer was clear in stating that the fact that the expansion is titled The Delicious Last Course means that it will be the last release for Cuphead by Studio MDHR. Instead, the studio is now looking to its future with a couple of projects that it isn’t ready to talk about just yet.

“We’re taking a page out of our rulebook of not announcing too early, but we’re not going anywhere,” said Moldenhauer. “We’re going to stay in the animation space for sure, but don’t be surprised if you see different genres.”

Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course is set to launch on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on June 30, and is priced at $7.99.
