Resident Evil 2 came out at the beginning of the year, giving a shot in the arm to the franchise and bringing back some much beloved old-school horror action. It seems the development on that game is done, but if you’re jonesing for a little more of that old fashioned horror, Daymare 1998 has you covered- and today we got a big look at the game.

Originally an unofficial fan remake of Resident Evil 2, the game has since been reworked into its own thing once the actual remake was announced. Today via YouTube channel Punish, we got on an hour of gameplay footage. You can see the influence of RE pretty clearly, which includes some pretty bloody combat and dimly lit rooms that hide all manner of horror. The game promises ’90s nostalgia and a multi-layered, multi-character story arc that will bring many twists and turns. You can check out more about the story here.

Daymare 1998 is slated for a PC release this summer, with a PlayStation 4 and Xbox One release soon after. Check out the video below.
