Dead Cells

In a rather interesting surprise, Motion Twin has announced that its Metroidvania-style rogue-lite platformer Dead Cells would be coming to the Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One. Check out the announcement trailer below for a better idea of how the game plays (along with admiring its gorgeous 2D sprite art-style).

Dead Cells takes place in a castle that changes with every run though this mostly manifests in slight changes to rooms and enemy compositions. The real challenge lies further in as enemies grow stronger and you must master the combat system to survive. That means rolling, back-stabbing, CC-ing and taking advantage of the smorgasbord of weapons to survive.

Thankfully you can unlock new weapons, upgrade certain stats and gather blueprints for later runs. Dead Cells is currently in Steam Early Access and contains quite the wealth of content to run through. It’s planned to release in 2018 alongside the other platform releases.
