Destiny 2 will mark the franchise’s debut on PC- and while it is likely to be a game that will do great on the platform, given its audience’s affinity for the kind of metagame that Destiny can provide, there is the specter of cheating – a far realer and more tangible possibility on PC than on the more closed PS4 or Xbox One – looming over this version.
Speaking to Finder, Bungie hinted at some anti cheating tools it will employ to ensure the game plays great, and that it plays fair. “This is something, definitely, we have a team of people who worry about this stuff,” project lead Mark Noseworthy said. “So, we care deeply about maintaining the integrity of the game, so we have some things planned, but I’m not going to go into any details on them. But we want the game to play great on every platform. On PC that means having a really good plan for how we attack cheating.”
That sounds good- I just hope they don’t end up going overboard and antagonizing legitimate users and players in their attempts to crack down on cheating, is all. Destiny launches later this year for PS4 and Xbox One, and then a bit later still for PC.
