Loot in Destiny is ranked by Rarity- with ‘Exotic’ being the highest rank any gear or item can have. Exotic gear is not only rare, it also is super powerful, with high ratings, great abilities and perks, and other great effects- in fact, it is deemed so powerful that you are only ever allowed to have one Exotic item equipped at a time.
