Destiny Item Trading Still Being Considered at Bungie

Creative director Christopher Barrett not a fan but there are "different opinions across the team".

Of the various details discussed for the release of Destiny’s House of Wolves expansion (many which will be available to non-DLC owners as well), one interesting point was brought up for creative director Christopher Barrett during the live-stream: Item trading between players. The topic has been discussed continuously since Destiny’s beginning.

“It’s something we’re…there’s downsides to it and there’s upsides.” The one issue, as stated by Destiny streamer Gothalion, was the end-game being watered down if friends could simply gift the most powerful weapons to their friends.

Despite Barrett not liking the idea, there are still conversations that go on at Bungie about it. “The investment designers, there’s a lot of conversations I’m sure that happens about that. We’re always considering features like that. Personally, I’d prefer not to have player trading. But you’ll get different opinions across the entire team.”

The idea hasn’t been dropped but that doesn’t mean it’ll ever come to fruition. Stay tuned for more news on Destiny’s House of Wolves leading to its May 19th release date.
