The Diablo 4 NPC vendor known as the Jeweler unlocks the crafting and socketing of gems, the socketing of equipment itself, and the upgrading of jewelry.

How To Unlock The Jeweler

The Jeweler is a vendor that is not immediately available to interact with at the start of the game. When you reach level 20, a priority quest will be automatically granted, called Gem Crafting, which will unlock the Jeweler as well.

How To Craft Gems

Crafting gems involves the combination of lower tier gems into gems of a higher tier with an additional cost of gold.

How To Unsocket Gems from Equipment

The Jeweler allows you to unsocket gems from equipment for a cost in gold. This is in contrast to unsocketing gems at the Blacksmith by salvaging equipment for free, thus losing the item while retaining the gem itself. Keep this in mind, if you are running short on gold, or have no further need for the item itself.

How To Add Gem Sockets To Equipment

The Jeweler can add another dimension to customization and personalization of gear by creating sockets in your equipment. This will add the attributes of whatever gem you eventually socket into it, over and above the Affixes and Aspects that may already be present. The process requires yet another rare crafting material in the form of Scattered Prisms. As of now, the only source for these appears to be random drops from World Bosses that themselves are part of random events in the open world.

How To Upgrade Rings And Amulets

The Jeweler is the vendor responsible for upgrading Rings and Amulets. Given the rarity of Ring and Amulet drops in general compared to other gear, it may be a good idea to do so with Rare quality Rings and Amulets in the early game, up until the point it begins to cost Veiled Crystals to progress further.

Rare Rings and Amulets

Upgrade 1

  • 400 Gold
  • 5x Iron Chunks

Upgrade 2

  • 800 Gold
  • 5x Iron Chunks
  • 4x Silver Ore

Upgrade 3

  • 2000 Gold
  • 8x Iron Chunks
  • 6x Silver Ore
  • 4x Veiled Crystals

Legendary Rings and Amulets

Upgrade 1

  • 500 Gold
  • 5x Iron Chunks

Upgrade 2

  • 1200 Gold
  • 5x Iron Chunks
  • 4x Silver Ore

Upgrade 3

  • 3000 Gold
  • 8x Iron Chunks
  • 6x Silver Ore
  • 6x Veiled Crystals

That is every service the Jeweler offers players in Diablo 4.
