Dirt Rally has been available in an early access form on the PC for quite a while now. The game is on the cusp of being released in a full version on Windows today and Amazon says there is going to be an actual physical copy of the computer game in January. Now we have official word that the game will also be available on the PS4 and Xbox One starting in April, 2016.
Ahead of the game’s release on those platforms, it seems as though the developers are working hard to make sure players are finding the game as fun as possible. The full release of the title today comes alongside the Winter Wonderland update and the Volkswagen Polo and Hyundai Rally being added to the game. The Winter Wonderland update includes a rally in the Varmland region of Sweden as well as Steam Workshop support.
Dirt Rally was likely a bit of a surprise when talking about just how popular it was when it first hit early access. While Codemasters is obviously happy there has been enough support to merit a console version, there’s a reason this hit PC first. Now we’ll just have to wait until the spring thaw in order to get our hands on this game for the PS4 and Xbox One. It seems likely that the consoles will be getting a digital release rather than a physical one when it hits this April.
