Soldier of Fortune was way ahead of its time in terms of gore and the game had massive amounts of obscene gore and blood. While there were many games that had gore, Soldier of Fortune just stood out and many people came in droves to see how the blood and gore were simulated. Enemies would regularly burst open with gushes of blood regardless of where you made contact and body parts and eyeballs would fly all over the place.
