Otacon also known as Hal Emmerich is one weird dude, with some serious family problems. Otacon has a step sister known as Emma and she was one of the people who was dragged into this family weirdness. When Hal was a teenager, he was seduced by his stepmother, and they had a brief affair. After Hal’s father learned of this, he decided to commit suicide by drowning himself in the family pool, dragging Emma in with him. Sheesh what a family.
