An app version of Disney Infinity’s toybox mode has been released for iPad, compatible with version 2 upwards and the iPad Mini. The app is free to download from the Apple App Store until October 5th. Disney released a statement regarding the app:

“Expanding upon Disney’s most ambitious video game initiative ever, the Disney Infinity: Toy Box app allows players to build and edit Toy Boxes on their iPad. Similar to the console version, players have unprecedented freedom and endless opportunity to create stories and play experiences starring the beloved characters from Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios’ most popular franchises.

“Players can transfer any Toy Box they create between their iPad and console, allowing them to continue right where they left off, from any connected platform. Players can sync their iPad Toy Boxes to their console game and then be able to unlock even more toys, props and themes. They can bring in Toy Box items from the console game by signing into Disney ID on an iPad.

“In essence, with the app, gamers have the ability to turn their iPad into a truly portable version of their own personal Toy Box. Disney Infinity: Toy Box is a full standalone experience, yet offers even more gameplay possibilities when connected to the console version.”

The features of the app are as follows:

– Intuitive multi-touch controls for building, explanding, and playing
– 60+ Free items to help build toy boxes
– Cross platform functionality
