We’ve gotten a ton of nostalgia-heavy marketing for the latest upcoming title in the Dragon Ball Z video game series, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. It’s a much different type of game, too, as the franchise has leaned mostly on the fighter genre with games like Dragon Ball FighterZ. Kakarot is an RPG though, and like all RPGs, there’s plenty of ways to power up Goku and the gang.

A new video released by publisher Bandai Namco is all about character progression. You can, of course, level up by fighting (what kind of Dragon Ball Z game would this be if you couldn’t?), but also you get experience via eating big meals, doing side quests, and training with other characters. The game also has community boards, where you can take characters’ soul emblems that you earn through side quests and get unique abilities and skills. Check it out below.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will release on January 17th- and strap in, it’s apparently going to be a pretty lengthy romp through the old school saga.
