DriveClub Developers Will Begin Work On Their New (Multiplatform) Game Later This Month

What is Evolution doing under Codemasters? We won't find out any time soon.

Earlier this month, we reported to you that, tragically, Sony had shuttered Evolution Studios, the folks who had brought us the (eventually) awesomePS4 exclusive racer DriveClub. It was a shame, not least because this was a genuinely talented studio that had made some great racing games.

But then help came unexpectedly- Codemasters announced that they had basically acquired all of Evolution Studios pretty much wholesale, and while they didn’t get the studio name or IP (those still belong to Sony), they did get the talent. And Evolution got to exist beyond even its closure. It was the best possible outcome from a messy situation.

But if you were hoping to see the studio’s new game under Codemasters any time soon, well, don’t- studio head Paul Rustchynsky confirmed that since work on the game hasn’t even begun yet, it’ll be a while before we get to see it.

Let’s just hope that when we do, it’s as great as their efforts with PlayStation were.
